‘I loved that – it was top-hole!’

At the Summer Solstice
– her new song to the tune of
The Twelve Days of Christmas.

 ‘Guillô’ and ‘Personent hodie’

I have been setting my own words to music since childhood. As Performance Poet, increasingly, I am enjoying combining the sung word with the spoken word – creating ‘poem-songs’, and inserting sung versions of my poems into recital programmes. I also create vocal soundscapes – using no words at all.

Qualifications & Experience
Ingrid’s professional experience is as soloist and ensemble singer and director; singing primarily the Medieval repertoire, and also Renaissance, Folk and Contemporary music. Having been introduced to medieval music in London (through attending concerts given by ensemble Gothic Voices), medieval song became an enduring passion – her particular penchant is the 13th century Spanish repertoire of Cantigas de Santa Maria and Cantigas de Amigo.

Ingrid has a Diploma from the UK-based Tonalis Centre for the Development of Music (in Uncovering the Voice – a 2 year combination training focusing on both performing as a singer and teaching singing). She also studied for two and a half years at Birmingham University’s Centre for Early Music Performance and Research, specialising in medieval music. Her primary singing teacher there was Vivien Ellis.
